19% decrease for health policies
The value of gross written premiums on the health insurance class was, in the first six months of 2009, about EUR 3 million, according to Specialty Review Insurance PROFILE. The figure represents, compared to the results recorded in the period January-June 2008, a decreasing nominal evolution, in European currency, of 19.4%.
Also, these types of policies have represented, in the analyzed period, approximately 0.3% of the underwritings on the market. Also, market concentration among the top competitors shows that 72% of total gross written premiums on the health insurance segment are owned by the companies on the first two positions: EUREKO and ALLIANZ-TIRIAC, while claims on this insurance segment rose, in the first six months of this year, to about EUR 740 thousand.
At a great distance, on the next three positions, ranked ASIROM, UNIQA Asigurari & SIGNAL IDUNA. It should be noted that, for EUREKO and SIGNAL IDUNA, health insurance has had significant shares in their businesses: 15.3% and, respectively, 93.4%. For the remaining players, this line of business was less than one percent, excepting OMNIASIG Asigurari de Viata (about 2.6%).
Preliminary results recorded by insurance and insurance brokerage companies, in the first 6 months of this year, can be read only in Number 3 of the Specialty Review Insurance PROFILE, which appears this week.
