40% of the house owners agree with the mandatory household insurance

Over 35% of Romanians would choose for a voluntary household insurance, besides the mandatory one. Moreover, 40% of respondents agree with the introduction of mandatory household insurance, it is shown in a market survey conducted by GfK Romania. Another 20% of respondents have agreed with this project, but to a more moderate extent.

A little over half of the respondents believe that mandatory insurance policy brings real benefits, even as it is now.

Most of the respondents, 55%, said that fire is the biggest risk to which their home is exposed, while earthquake, landslides and flooding risks, covered by mandatory insurance policy, are almost to the same extent. Last but not least, half of owners believe that burglary is a clause that should not lack from the coverage.

One of the major problems identified in the GfK market survey is the lack of information among homeowners, as 72% declared they are little or not at all informed about these insurance products.

Also, the first three issues that determine the acquisition of a household insurance policy are trust in the company (56%), advantageous price for the insurance policy or for a package of products (43%) and an agent or an employee coming home to sell the policy (31%).
