8 Romanian companies are in Top 50 general insurance in CEE
ALLIANZ-TIRIAC (12th place), OMNIASIG (15th), ASTRA Asigurari (21st), GROUPAMA (24th), BCR Asigurari (33rd), ASIROM (34th), UNIQA (37th) and GENERALI (45th) are the best placed Romanian general insurance companies in the Central and Eastern Europe, the volume of underwritings made in 2009 placing them among the Top 50 companies in the region.
Compared to mid-2009, two insurance companies in Romania are out of the Regional Top 50: EUROINS, which ranked 46th (currently on the 55th place), and ARDAF, which ranked 49th (now on 51st position).
In 2009, on the first place in the region was the Polish insurer PZU (underwritings of EUR 1.9 billion), followed from a distance by the "Czechs" from CESKA pojistovna (EUR 922 million underwritings). The third position was occupied by the company member of VIENNA Insurance Group, KOOPERATIVA pojistovna from the Czech Republic (EUR 880 million underwritings).
The hierarchy is continued with the second insurer in Poland, STU ERGO HESTIA, respectively with the first company in Slovenia, TRIGLAV. Places 6, 7 and 8 went to the first insurer in Hungary, ALLIANZ, respectively to the 3rd and 4th places in Poland: TUiR WARTA and ALLIANZ Polska. 9th and 10th positions were occupied by the first insurers in Croatia and Slovakia: CROATIA osiguranje and ALLIANZ Slovenska.

The release date of the next special report, with data for the first half of this year, is October 24, 2010, during the annual meeting of insurers and reinsurers at Baden-Baden, with the occasion of Baden-Baden XPRIMM Symposium.
