A RON 240.2 million business for BT Asigurari in the first nine months of 2008
BT Asigurari, one of the three companies bought by the French GROUPAMA and recently found in a merger process with ASIBAN and OTP Garancia, closed the first nine months with an over 14.8% growth in the underwritings income. Therefore, the gross written premiums valued RON 240.2 million, according to the results sent to the Magazine INSURANCE Profile by BT Asigurari.
BT Asigurari's registered underwritings on the non-life segment grew with 19.2% to EUR 234.8 million, reflecting a motor insurance good performance. The insurer had RON 102.42 million underwritings on CASCO segment, 50% more than RON 68.2 million, which were registered in the first nine months of the last year. Meanwhile, the MTPL underwritings decreased from RON 92.4 million to RON 78.27 million.
At the same time, BT Asigurari's life gross written premiums decreased with more than 55%, from RON 12.2 million to RON 5.46 million. In the claims paid by the company respect, these rose at RON 140.63 million, from which RON 139.3 million were registered on the non-life segment.
After having finished the merger process between ASIBAN, BT Asigurari and OTP Garancia at the end of 2009, under the name of GROUPAMA Asigurari, the three companies will stop to exist as entities of their own. After an almost EUR 600 million, GROUPAMA will start the biggest merger project in the Romanian insurance market's history.
Having a market share of 12.7% on the general insurance segment and 8.4% on the life insurance segment in 2007, GROUPAMA has ambitious objectives in Romania. Therefore, the French group intends to obtain 25% of the property and MTPL market, 15% of the motor insurance market and 20% of the life insurance market.
