A new player on the life insurance market
Insurance Supervisory Commission decided on the 8th of April the name change of AGRAS Asigurari into UNIQA Asigurari de Viata and granting its authorization on the Romanian life insurance market.
Thus, UNIQA completes its range of products currently offered to the Romanian market, by entering on the life insurance segment.
"Based on the experience of UNIQA, the new company in Romania plans to offer to the local market attractive life insurance products, adapted to the needs of Romanian customers, for protection, savings and investment", the company announced on the 15th of April. UNIQA Group ranks among the top life insurance companies on the Austrian market and provides life insurance products in 18 European countries.
The main shareholder of UNIQA Asigurari de Viata is UNIQA International Beteiligungs-Verwaltungs, with a 69.8429% stake, after the RON 20.64 million capital increase of AGRAS Asigurari in March this year. The other shareholders of the company are UNIQA Asigurari, with a 30.0373% share, UNIQA Versicherungen AG, with 0.1189%, and UNIQA International Versicherungs-Holding, with 0.0009% of the shares.
The company AGRAS Asigurari, founded in 1992, was indirectly taken over by UNIQA, along with the completion of the transaction through which the Austrian group fully took over UNITA (now UNIQA Asigurari) from VIG. UNITA was the majority shareholder of AGRAS since 2002, with a package of 92% of the shares.
