AIG Life Asigurari Romania has officially changed its name, on the 20th of January, to ALICO Asigurari Romania, taking the name of the majority shareholder, American Life Insurance Company.
According to company officials, the name change will not affect the company structure, management team or strategy followed so far. In terms of business profile, the structure and the specialization on the life insurance segment will be maintained, especially on guaranteed products.
"Through the quality of services offered and through the local results, we demonstrated that it was time to take the name we have successfully represented since the beginning of our activity in Romania", said Theodor ALEXANDRESCU, General Manager, ALICO Asigurari Romania. In terms of expectations for 2010, Theodor ALEXANDRESCU believes that this year the stabilizing of the financial markets will result in the growth on the unit-linked type insurance segment. Also, if the health care system reform is put into practice, it can lead to the growth of the profile private insurance market. The company based in Wilmington, Delaware has an extensive network of over 40,000 agents, brokers and financial institutions and has 11,000 employees in 54 countries, providing services to 19 million customers. Besides the North-American continent, ALICO has operations in markets across Europe, Asia, Middle East, Africa and Latin America.
