AIG Romania will operate next year according to the establishment right
 AIG Romania will become a subsidiary of the French company AIG Europe in 2009.
"We will become AIG Europe's branch during 2009, but the internal structure will remain the same and the employees number will not suffer any modifications", Mihnea TOBESCU, General Manager, AIG Romania has stated.
So, AIG Romania will be supervised by the France supervision authority, where AIG Europe has its headquarters.
AIG Europe has already notified the Insurance Supervision Commission (CSA) about intending to operate on the Romanian market according to the establishment right, along with seven other companies like: COFACE, EULER HERMES, QBE Insurance, MEDICOVER Sweden's insurance division, a motor insurance specialized company (PORSCHE) and companies from the group CARDIF.
At the end of 2007, AIG Romania was placed on the fourteenth spot in Romania's insurance companies top, according to the Insurance PROFILE Magazine. So, the insurer had in 2007 gross written premiums of RON 96.6 million (EUR 28.94 million), a growth of 17.34% compared to 2006.
