ALLIANZ-TIRIAC among the most important insurers in CEE
The leader of the Romanian insurance market, ALLIANZ-TIRIAC, takes the 19th place in the top of the largest insurance companies in Central and Eastern Europe, according to a study made by DELOITTE, based on gross written premiums.
With a turnover surpassing EUR 350 million and a EUR 9 million profit in 2007, ALLIANZ-TIRIAC is the only Romanian company present among the Top 20.
The first place in the chart went to the Polish group PZU, the first insurance group in CEE which reported a profit over EUR 1 billion and EUR 4 billion in gross written premiums for 2007. PZU is followed by the two top companies in the Czech Republic, CESKA Pojistovna, with underwritings of EUR 1.37 billion and KOOPERATIVA Pojistovna with EUR 1.04 billion.
The insurance business of ALLIANZ-TIRIAC increased by 12.1% in the first half of this year, from EUR 189 million in H1/2007, according to the results published by the ALLIANZ Group. The operational profit of the Romanian insurance market's leader increased to EUR 5 million from EUR 3 million in the first half of 2007, due to profit gained from the life insurance segment.
