ASTRA Asigurari estimates EUR 5 million from on-line sales
 Starting December 2nd, www.astraonline.ro is the address at which clients in Romania, individuals or legal persons, can buy on-line insurance policies issued by ASTRA Asigurari.
"The new website www.astraonline.ro, dedicated to electronic issuance of insurance policies, meets the requirements of flexibility and affordability specific to on-line sale, bringing with it a lot of advantages for our clients: low cost, speed of issuance, security of personal data, easy access to useful information related to products, legislation, contract conditions and promotions", said Radu MUSTATEA, President of the Board, ASTRA Asigurari.
Of the company's portfolio, which includes 60 types of general, life and health insurance, five items can be purchased on-line: MTPL, Motor Hull insurance, household insurance (CasAsigura Plus, a basic policy, and Imobilia, a complex product for complete protection of the home, including the coverage of the risk of accidents of family members and their civil liability) and medical insurance for traveling abroad.
"These products are most required and they represent over 90% of the company's retail portfolio", said Radu MUSTATEA.
The company estimates it will sell, within the next 12 months, more than 50,000 insurance policies through this web-portal, representing a volume of gross written premiums of over EUR 5 million.
40% of the underwritings will be represented by MTPL policies, 40% - by property insurance, and 15% - by Motor Hull insurance.
"One of the main benefits is that insurance policies concluded by www.astraonline.ro can be paid either on-line (by credit card) or offline (by any of the current payment methods: cash at the pay desk of the partner banks, banking transfer, internet banking etc.), in both cases with no additional fee", explained Dacian VINEREANU, Vicepresident of the Board, ASTRA Asigurari, and the initiator of the project.
"Moreover, for the insurance issued and paid on-line, with the card, a copy of the policy can be print immediately after the payment process. Also, the policy renewal process is very simple, as data is taken from the old insurance policy", according to Dacian VINEREANU.
ASTRA Asigurari is the largest insurance company with predominantly Romanian shareholders and capital, being one of the most capitalized companies on the national profile market, with a share capital amounting to EUR 55 million.
The company is market leader on property insurance, at the end of August 2009 registering an increase of 235% on this line of insurance, compared to the same period of 2008. ASTRA Asigurari registered, in the first 9 months of 2009, a net profit worth RON 4.17 million, while the value from the same period of last year amounted to the sum of RON 1.3 million, the volume of underwritings amounting to RON 611.38 million, of which RON 604.16 million on the non-life segment, 22% more compared to the first three quarters of 2008.
