ASTRA Asigurari: Profit of RON 6.3 million in 2009
The insurance company ASTRA has obtained during 2009 a net profit of almost RON 6.3 million (EUR 1.5 million), according to preliminary results transmitted to the Bucharest Stock Exchange.
Compared to profits made in 2008, of RON 3.5 million, the increase was of 80% - the insurer announced on February 19th.
Company's gross written premiums increased by 22% last year compared to 2008, up to a value of RON 796 million, of which RON 785 million represented underwritings in general insurance, the main engines of growth being property and motor insurance.
The insurance classes from the company's portfolio that recorded the most important evolutions were: buildings and property insurance - 200%, life insurance - 51%, Aviation Motor Hull - 20% and motor insurance - 8%.
ASTRA Asigurari estimates it will end 2010 on growth and, for the insurance market in general, the company forecasts a positive evolution of 5%.
The objectives that the company has set on long-term are to maintain the position in the top companies from the profile market, to strengthen its leadership position in the segments of aviation, maritime and property insurance, to professionalize the sales network and to increase the quality of services provided to the insured.
