ASTRA, GENERALI and EUROINS - the only non-life increases in 2009
If until now the ranking changes were favored by registered growths over the market average, in the new context, changes in the tops and earning points in market share occur as a result of declines below the market average. With only 3 exceptions (ASTRA, GENERALI and EUROINS), the rest of the companies from TOP 10 general insurance have reported declines of business in 2009, according to the Specialty Review INSURANCE Profile.
ALLIANZ-TIRIAC and OMNIASIG remained on the first two places in the non-life hierarchy. ASTRA has increased by over 6% in EUR, it gained 1.7 points of market share and it climbed 1 position in the ranking, thus entering on the podium.
BCR Asigurari and GENERALI also climbed one position in the top, with underwritings of EUR 136 million, up to the 5th place, and, respectively, of EUR 98.5 million, up to the 8th place. GOUPAMA, ASIROM and ARDAF are the TOP 10 companies whose dynamics did not allow preservation of the top positions they had held in 2008.
Also, EUROINS climbed one position, from the 11th place where it was situated at the end of 2008, thus managing to enter in TOP 10 general insurance, with underwritings of EUR 68.6 million. Moreover, this is the company that registered the most important increase in business in 2009, on this segment, of 76.8%, in European currency.
GROUPAMA, a name newly appeared in the profile rankings - synonymous with the biggest merger in insurance in Romania -, ASIROM and ARDAF are the TOP 10 companies whose dynamics did not allow preservation of the ranking positions held in 2008.
Preliminary results registered by insurance and insurance brokerage companies in 2009 can be read only in Number 1/2010 of the Specialty Review INSURANCE Profile, which was launched at the end of March.
