for the USD 10 million claim produced at TAROM aircraft on 30th of
December 2007, on "Henri Coanda" International Airport from Bucharest.
On February 27, the company has paid the first rate of the claim
that worth USD 5 million.
ASTRA-UNIQA and WILLIS, the largest aviation broker in the world and
the reinsurance broker which has placed the risks for airline TAROM,
have collected very quickly the second half of the sum from the reinsurers.
"Thus, ASTRA-UNIQA respects its leader status of the aviation insurance market
in Romania through an expedient investigation and indemnification of the biggest
claim in Romania for many years until now", the insurers' representatives have
stated.
Besides the USD 10 million paid, ASTRA-UNIQA will also pay for all
the expenses generated with moving the aircraft from the place the
accident took place.
"Such a claim represents a unique and complex experience both for the insurer
and the market. Beside the media impact and the attention dragged by this case,
it led at a growth of the professional value of the ones that investigated the
claim by gaining an experience which can be obtained only through an active implication
in resolving claims of such ampleness", tells the press release.
