Business of RON 2.15 million for AEGON, in 2009
AEGON Asigurari de Viata, company launched on the Romanian profile market at the beginning of the previous year, reported in the first year of activity underwritings of RON 2.15 million (about EUR 520 thousand). Unit-linked policies accounted for approximately 80% of company sales (RON 1.76 million) or a number of 1,718 policies, out of the total volume of 2,153 contracts signed in 2009. The most important sales channel of the company was represented by insurance brokers, who own a 84% share of the total underwritings of the company.
"Customers who decided to be our partners in the difficult moments of the year 2009 will not leave easily. They have chosen AEGON in an informed manner... and knowing what they are buying", explains Silvia SIRB, General Manager, AEGON Asigurari de Viata.
Although the Romanians' budgets were affected in the previous year and it was registered a reduction in the consumption of financial products, "we are located in the upper part of the statistics in terms of lapsing rate", according to the quoted official.
An important objective of the company is developing partnerships with banks, which "incorporate all types of benefits that the client can get from the relationship with the bank and with his insurer, buying life insurance products or goods directly from his banking advisor".
For AEGON, the real wave of customers will begin to be felt starting the second half of 2010, at which point the communication and sales strategies will be realized and implemented. "2010 will mean for AEGON an increase of at least 3 times of the business volume", states Silvia SIRB. Remember that when launched, the officials of AEGON Asigurari de Viata, controlled by Dutch group AEGON, said that their target was to enter in the top five companies on the life insurance market by 2014.
