CLAL Romania becomes PLATINUM Asigurari
The Insurance Supervisory Commission approved changing the name of CLAL Romania Asigurari Reasigurari in PLATINUM Asigurari Reasigurari. Thus, according to ISC decision no. 120 of February 10, 2010, the company was registered with the new name in the Register of insurers on the web-site of the supervisory authority.
CLAL Romania was founded in 2006, in the idea of developing direct sales by telephone, by individuals, and in 2008 the shareholders, the Israeli group CLAL Insurance, have decided to start a restructuring process, moving the focus to the corporate market and to diversifying distribution channels. In the autumn of 2009, CLAL Insurance sold, for EUR 500,000, CLAL Romania to a group of local businessmen, of which Naimer EPHRAIM, formerly Vicepresident of OMNIASIG and Development Manager of the Israeli group TBI Financial Services (former shareholder of OMNIASIG), is also part - who also became the CEO of the insurer.
Before that, CLAL Romania started in 2009 a massive operational restructuring process, initiated and coordinated by the former shareholder, who decided to let go motor insurance underwriting in mid-May, also giving up the presence in the territory, which is one of the conditions for practicing MTPL.
