Changes in Top 5 non-life at 9 months
On the general insurance segment, the companies in Top 5 have underwrote premiums over EUR 805 million, a nominal decrease, the European currency, of 14.7%, compared with the first three quarters of 2008. Compared to the six months situation, the top has suffered a change in the fourth position, where GROUPAMA Asigurari entered, taking the place of ASIROM, that fell on the 6th place, according to the Review INSURANCE Profile estimations.
The first two general insurance companies remain, like before, ALLIANZ-TIRIAC and OMNIASIG, at a difference of EUR 11 million in terms of gross written premiums, the business declines of the two companies being similar - 18%, in euro, for ALLIANZ, to EUR 214.1 million, and 19.6% for OMNIASIG, to EUR 203 million.
ASTRA Asigurari has maintained itself on the podium, on the third place, being the only company among the five who registered a business growth on the non-life segment in the first nine months, of about 5%, nominally, in European currency, rising to EUR 143 million.
Newly founded GROUPAMA Asigurari, climbed on the fourth position with a 24% business increase, according to INSURANCE Profile u to about EUR 140 million. The company, created following the merger of ASIBAN and BT Asigurari, to which OTP Garancia will soon join, "threw" ASIROM out of the Top 5, for which INSURANCE Profile estimated a negative dynamic of business of over 36%, in euro, going down to the sixth place.
Also, BCR Asigurari, taken over by VIENNA Insurance Group, went back a place compared to the first half of this year, reaching the position 5, with underwritings of EUR 105 million, a nominal decrease, in euro, of only 3.7%.
Preliminary results registered by the national insurance market during the first three quarters of this year can be read only in Number 4/2009 of the Specialty Review INSURANCE Profile (www.insuranceprofile.ro), which will appear in late November.
