EUR 77 million for BT Asigurari
The Romanian BT Asigurari had subscribed, in 2007, a total amount of gross
written premiums of EUR 77 million, according to a report published by GROUPAMA.
In this context, the company reported an increase of 28.61% for BT Asigurari.
In December 2007, GROPUPAMA had acquired the shares stock of BT Asigurari from
Banca TRANSILVANIA for EUR 90 million. A few others foreign financial groups
were interested in this acquisition, like UNIQA and AEGON.
For GROUPAMA, year 2007 represented a key point for developing an aggressive
expansion strategy in the Central and Eastern Europe.
In this context, the French insurer also acquired the insurance division from
the Hungarian bank OTP, named GARANCIA and after this decided to buy 8% of
OTP Bank's shares.
Also, in January 2008, the company's officials declared its interest regarding
ASIBAN, a Romanian insurer.
