EUROINS sold 1,350 household insurance policies in the first nine months
The insurance company EUROINS Romania underwrote, in the first 9 months of 2009, gross premiums worth RON 450 thousand on the segment of voluntary household insurance, up 36% compared to same period of the previous year.
At the same time, this type of insurance has achieved a 22.5% share of the total underwritings made by the company on the insurance class of fire and natural perils. "These results are also due to the positive campaign made by the authorities and by the companies member of PAID (Pool of Insurance Against Natural Disasters), that helped in educating the population", EUROINS officials stated, for XPRIMM Newsletters.
In the reference period, 1,350 policies were sold, compared with 870 in Q3/2008, with an average value of RON 333 per policy. "In 2009, like other insurers, we introduced a dedicated product, which strictly covers the risks of natural disasters within the limits required by the mandatory insurance policy (earthquake, floods, landslides). This product was more advantageous compared to the policy of mandatory insurance offered by PAID (decreased amount of premiums, bonus for buying other voluntary policies)", company officials added.
They believe that the introduction, since January 1, 2010, of the mandatory household insurance will have a positive impact on sales of voluntary policies - for 2010 expecting a growth of this market segment.
