EXCLUSIVE: BCR Viata, the first position on the traditional life insurance segment
BCR Asigurari de Viata stepped on the first position in the traditional life insurance segment, by the underwritings volume criteria, thus the company outrunning ING Asigurari.
Anyway, this was expected, as the company member of the Austrian group VIENNA Insurance was the only one who has realized a steady growth in business this year (in Euro): 33.5% in the first quarter, 16.6% at mid-year, respectively 22.4% after the first nine months of this year. Also, the market share of BCR Asigurari de Viata grew on this segment, up to 20%, with underwritings of RON 168.4 million.
ING Asigurari is maintaining in the top of the hierarchy based on the segment of unit-linked policies, with a market share of around 71%.
In the first nine months, the life insurance market recorded a volume of underwritings of RON 1.17 billion (EUR 277 million), down 21% compared with Q3/2008.
Of the total underwritings on the life insurance segment, traditional policies represented 72% (EUR 200 million), while the unit-linked segment - 28% (EUR 77 million).
Preliminary results recorded by insurance and insurance brokerage companies, in the first 9 months of this year, can be found only in Number 4 of the Specialty Review INSURANCE Profile (www.insuranceprofile.ro), which will appear at the end of November.
