EXCLUSIVE: Cristian CONSTANTINESCU retires as Head of ALLIANZ-TIRIAC Asigurari
Cristian CONSTANTINESCU, General Manager of ALLIANZ-TIRIAC Asigurari, will retire from the position held in the company starting the date of May 1, 2010.
In this context, the position of Chief Executive Officer of the insurance market leader is to be taken over by an expat, Ranga BIR, currently Regional Chief Business Officer of ALLIANZ New Europe. After this date, CONSTANTINESCU will remain a member of the Management Board of the company and Counselor of the new CEO, untill the middle of 2011, sources within the company say.
Cristian CONSTANTINESCU is General Manager of ALLIANZ-TIRIAC Asigurari since 2000 and, also, for more than a decade, the President of UNSAR - The National Association of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies of Romania.
Being at the helm of the market leader company from the start, he is actually the main author of a well-known success story of the Romanian insurance market. In 1994, he persuaded Ion TIRIAC that insurance can become a successful business in Romania. Six years later, "ASIT - Asigurari Ion TIRIAC" ranked second in the top of the local insurers and was considered by the ALLIANZ group as being the most interesting acquisition. The Germans' option has been validated by the further development of the company, which has grown profitably every year, occupying the top position of the market.
With a degree in economics, the Head of ALLIANZ-TIRIAC is also considered the best expert on the technical side of the business. Belonging to the "old guard" of specialists trained within the former state monopoly in insurance, ADAS, Cristian CONSTANTINESCU worked for this company for 16 years, specializing particularly in reinsurance, where he held, for 2 years, the Manager position.
