Emilia BUNEA takes over the coordination of ING finances for ten countries in the region

Starting April 1, 2010, the General Manager of ING Fond de Pensii, Emilia BUNEA, took over the function of Chief Financial Officer at ING Insurance Central Europe, after a career of 13 years in the financial market in Romania. The position remained vacant at ING Fond de Pensii after the promotion of Emilia BUNEA will be taken over by Marius POPESCU, currently General Manager of ING Investment Management.

"Promoting a member of the ING Romania team in the regional top management structures of the group proves, once again, the high level of expertise of the Romanian specialists and the excellent results obtained locally. We are proud of our colleagues' impressive professional evolution and I believe that once they take over the new responsibilities, Emilia and Marius will prove the same excellent management skills, the same level of professionalism and commitment", said Cornelia COMAN, General Manager of ING Asigurari de Viata and President of the Administration Board of ING Fond de Pensii.

Emilia BUNEA (40 years old) joined the ING team in September 2007, when she took over the mandate of Financial Manager of ING Asigurari de Viata and, starting August 2008, she was appointed CEO of ING Fond de Pensii. With a 13 years career in the financial field, Emilia BUNEA is also in charge, in the Association for Privately Administered Pensions from Romania (APAPR), of the coordination of Legal and Actuarial Committees.

"I am honored by the ING Group's decision to entrust me the coordination of the finances in the ten countries that comprise our region. It is a mission that I take over with responsibility and enthusiasm. Meanwhile, I will continue to pay attention with interest to the development of private pensions market in Romania, so necessary in the known demographic and economic context", said Emilia BUNEA.

The division ING Insurance Central Europe owns life insurance companies in Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria, Russia, Greece and Spain and pension funds in Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey. In the region, the group serves over 7 million customers and has approximately 4,000 employees.

Regarding the mandate of Marius POPESCU as CEO of ING Fond de Pensii, it is to be submitted to the approval of the Supervisory Commission of the Private Pensions System (CSSPP).
Marius POPESCU (35 years old) has 9 years experience in finance, in the last 5 years developing a career in ING. He joined the ING team in 2005, as Investment Manager of ING Asigurari de Viata, and in 2008 he took over the mandate of General Manager of ING Investment Management Romania. Previously, he worked for four years as financial analyst for GENERAL Motors in North America.

"I am aware of the extremely important role that any manager in this area must assume, in order to contribute to the further development and strengthening of the mandatory private pensions market. 2010 marks a milestone for this market, a year in which assets of mandatory pensions funds management will exceed the threshold of EUR 1 billion, but also a first step towards normality, with paid contributions increasing to 2.5% of the gross salary of the nearly 5 million participants", said Marius POPESCU.
Marius POPESCU has CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst, member of the Toronto CFA Society and of CFA Romania), ACCA (Chartered Certified Accountant), CGA (Certified General Accountant, member of CGA Canada) certifications and he is MBA graduate of Saint Mary's University in Halifax, Canada.
