Frans Van der ENT: We are interested in possible acquisitions
The EUREKO group, present on the Romanian profile market through EUREKO Asigurari, is interested in a possible acquisition in our country. "We are eyeing the possibilities of making an acquisition of a company, but also of taking-over some portfolios", Frans Van der ENT, Country Manager of EUREKO in Romania has declared for XPRIMM Newsletters.
"Our goal is to increase our market share, so we evaluate the possibility of acquisitions, to the extent to which this will be possible", said Van der ENT. The funding for a possible acquisition could come from the mother-group, which has signed an agreement with the Polish state regarding its shares in PZU. Thus, EUREKO will receive compensations of about EUR 2 billion, amount that could be directed towards a possible extension.
Moreover, until now, EUREKO has made several acquisitions in Romania, on the private pensions segment (note: BANCPOST and KD Pensii). At the end of Q3/2009, EUREKO Asigurari recorded underwritings of RON 32.87 million, on the segments of life and health insurance, down about 8% compared to the same period of 2008. "We consider these results as satisfactory, considering that the company fell below the market average", said Carmen RADU, Deputy General Manager, EUREKO.
EUREKO officials estimate that the lowest point of the crisis has been reached, and that is why "we estimate for 2010 a growth of 20%-25% of new businesses, in terms of life insurance" - according to the Deputy General Manager.
