GENERALI Romania increased by 30% on the household insurance segment
The insurance company GENERALI Romania registered a 30% growth in the first 9 months of 2009 on the segment of voluntary household insurance, totaling gross written premiums worth RON 32.3 million. At the same time, on this class there were paid claims of RON 3.4 million, compared to RON 2.7 million in the same period of the previous year.
According to Razvan POPESCU, Head of General Insurance Department, "compared to previous years, when this market was driven by loans and financing, this year the promotion was done mostly by big insurance campaigns but also by the authorities, who have supported the introduction of mandatory household insurance".
In this sense, GENERALI launched a massive promotional campaign and a new household insurance product, which has complete coverage of risks, no franchise and no maximum limit of compensation for the most common risks.
Also, Razvan POPESCU appreciates that "the introduction of mandatory household insurance will help educate the population regarding protection against disasters of the goods they own". With its introduction in 2010, "most insurers will make efforts to develop this line of business, because it is a market with potential, and it is likely that the growth from 2009 will be continued in 2010, perhaps even exceeded", he said.
