GROUPAMA - 3rd place
The GROUPAMA - BT Asigurari transaction is situated on the third position in
the Romanian Acquisitions Top in 2007, according to KPMG. In December 2007, GROPUPAMA
had acquired the shares stock of BT Asigurari from Banca TRANSILVANIA for EUR
90 million.
A few others foreign financial groups were interested in this acquisition, like
UNIQA and AEGON.
Founded in 1994 as SAR Transilvania, BT Asigurari established its activity profile
as selling insurance products intended for all clients' categories. The company's
head quarter is in Cluj-Napoca. Currently, BT Asigurari, one of Top 10 Romanian
insurance company, has a territorial network of almost 300 unities in Romania
and reported, in the first quarter of 2007, a total amount of gross written premiums
of RON 132.3 million (almost EUR 40 million), meaning 44% more in comparison
to the same period of 2006.
GROUPAMA is represented on the market since 19th century and started its activity
as a mutual insurance company, developing permanently the company and offering
a wide insurance products range in France.
Thus, GROUPAMA is situated on the third place in the French insurance companies
Top, being also represented in China, Greece, Italy, Great Britain, Portugal,
Spain, Turkey, Hungary and Vietnam.
The insurance premiums revenues of GROUPAMA in 2006 were about EUR 14.2 billion.
