General liability policies decreased in the total underwritings
 The total value of gross written premiums for general liability insurance, was EUR 31.9 million in 2009, thus registering, compared with 2008, in terms of dynamics, a nominal decline in euro of about 9.7 percentage points.
The figure represents, according to Specialty Review INSURANCE Profile, 1.5% of the total underwritings registered by the national insurance market in the analyzed period.
In the top of insurance companies, based on the volume of underwritings on this segment, ALLIANZ-TIRIAC and OMNIASIG have maintained their first two positions, which they had occupied in 2008, also. Third position was held by BCR Asigurari, while the next two places were occupied by GROUPAMA and ASIROM.
Underwritings concentration among the first competing companies shows that the first 5 insurers own 61.3% of the market, while TOP 10 is concentrating 91.5% of total underwritings.
Also, 2009 represented for general liability insurance, in terms of premiums mediated by insurance brokers, a volume of EUR 15.6 million (about 2.2% of the total national brokerage market). Meanwhile, the registered number represents, according to INSURANCE Profile estimates, 49 percent of total gross written premiums on this insurance class.
Regarding the hierarchy of the brokerage companies on this insurance class, MARSH Romania is situated on the first position, with EUR 3.8 million mediated premiums, equivalent to a market share exceeding 24%. Far away from the first place were ranked the brokerage companies GRAS SAVOYE Romania, which last year mediated a volume of premiums from liability insurance of EUR 1.8 million (representing 11% of the total market), and AON Romania (EUR 1.6 million mediated premiums).
