How would the market without motor insurance be like?
 Excluding the most losing insurance classes, MTPL and CASCO, Romanian insurer's underwritings would totalize EUR 469.38 million in H1/2008, according to a study made by the Specialized Magazine INSURANCE Profile.
At the same time, the claims paid by the insurance industry would be of EUR 93.11 million.
Also, the national insurance market portfolio's structure would be conspicuous: life insurance would dominate the market with 48.63% of the total underwritings, followed by the property insurance (33.49%), credits and guarantees (6.51%), third party liability (3.38%), accidents and sickness (2.09%), transit property (1,25%) and travel insurance (1,04%).
An important thing to highlight would be the insurance companies top after the gross written premiums' volume: ING would take the first place with approximately 15.86% market share, followed by ALLIANZ-TIRIAC (underwritings of EUR 54.47 million and 11.6% of the market) and AIG Life with gross written premiums of EUR 38.14 million (8.13% market share).
The national insurance market in H1/2008 registered a EUR 1.20 billion gross written premiums volume, out of which 60.95% (EUR 732.73 million) came from motor insurance (MTPL, Green Card and CASCO all together).
