Life insurance, first place in the Romanians' preferences
Life insurance represents the first option among the Capital's population having an 18.6 percentage of the ones interviewed in a survey made by MEDNET Marketing Research Center. Secondly, 14.1% of the Bucharest people would prefer a property insurance and 12.9% would make a health insurance. At the same time, the motor insurance high penetration level placed this option as being priority only among 2.9% of the questioned people. Collaterally, the order of preferences among the population outside the Capital city is quite similar, as 13.6% of them opt for life insurance, 12.2% would prefer property insurance, 7.6%, health insurance, while only 2.5% have motor insurance as first option. Therewith, 57.6% of the people living in Bucharest and 66% of the province civilians have no intentions of making any insurance in the near future, MEDNET Marketing Research Center survey has indicated. Romanian life insurance generated a gross written premiums volume of RON 849.92 million, meaning 19.2% from the total realized in H1/2008. The general insurance gross written premiums volume was RON 3.57 billion in the same period (a 21.72% growth compared to H1/2007), representing 80.8% from the total underwritings. A remarkable fact is that life underwritings registered a superior growth rhythm compared to the non-life one, respectively 24.93%, in the before analyzed period.
