MOLDASIG and ASITO - over 70% of Green Card underwritings in H1/2010
 The value of gross written premiums on the Green Card segment reached MDL 88.55 million (EUR 5.16 mllion) in H1/2010, thus knowing, compared with the first six months of 2009, a nominal growth in MDL of over 18%.
In euro, amid the depreciation of the leu against the European currency, the dynamic was about 3 percentage points. Also, the figure represents over 19% of all underwritings registered by the national insurance market in the analyzed period.
In terms of the claims ratio, the amount of claims paid by companies amounted to about MDL 21 million (EUR 1.3 million), an increase in absolute value by about MDL 9.3 million (EUR 450,000) compared with H1/2009.
In the top of insurance companies, ranked by volume of underwritings on this segment, MOLDASIG and ASITO have kept the first two positions, which they also held in the first six months of 2009, and they generated more than 70% of all businesses. Third position was held by GRAWE CARAT, while the next two places were occupied by MOLDOVA ASTROVAZ and MOLDCARGO.
Moldova joined the international Green Card system in 1997, but started working in the field in 2001. Also, this year, the National Bureau of Motor Insurers in Moldova (BNAA) was accepted in the International "Green Card" Bureau with full membership status.
Only six insurers have the right to sell Green Card insurance policies in Moldova: MOLDASIG, ASITO, GRAWE CARAT Asigurari, MOLDOVA-ASTROVAZ, DONARIS Group and MOLDCARGO (last two of them, starting with the second half of this year).
Moldavian insurance market recorded in the first half of this year, compared to the period January to June 2009, a nominal evolution in MDL of over 15%, from MDL 381.22 million (EUR 26.13 million ) in H1/2009, to MDL 438.84 million (EUR 26.16 million) in H1/2010. On insurance classes, the share of general insurance gross written premiums amounted to 94.5%, equivalent to MDL 414.84 million (EUR 24.73 million).
Of all classes of general insurance, "supremacy" was held by motor insurance, as it represents, added up (Motor Hull, MTPL and Green Card), more than 65.8% of the total market (about MDL 289 million).
