Modifying The 381/2002 Law - a Priority of MARD, at ICAR 2008
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) intends to modify the No. 381/2002 Law, regarding compensation/indemnity in the event of natural calamities in agriculture, so that the state no longer fully bears the claims for disaster areas, in case of the insured crops.
Because of this, creating an effective platform of discussions between authorities - insurers - agricultural producers has become the primary objective of MARD at the Vth edition of ICAR - The International CAtastrophic Risks Forum, event produced and annually organized by Media XPRIMM. This way, the areas of common interest as well as the differences will be identified, the challenges and problems of the Romanian agriculture will be analyzed and, most importantly, solutions to resolve them will be proposed.
For the insurers, the aim of the debates is to raise the awareness of the agricultural producers and of the MARD officials regarding the fact that insurance products are a real and necessary instrument of developing the agriculture, but also regarding the fact that insurance cannot be done randomly, by anyone and under any conditions.
The event, which will have an important say in the evolution of the agricultural sector in Romania from the legislation point of view, will take place on October the 14th 2008 at the Parliament Palace and will benefit from the support and official participation of MARD and of the World Bank.
