Nine months of strengthening the leadership position, at ASTRA Asigurari
 The first three quarters represented for ASTRA Asigurari "nine months of strengthening the market leader position", according to statements made by Radu MUSTATEA, President of the Directorate of the company, in an interview for XPRIMM.TV, at Baden Baden. "We have a positive evolution compared to last year, not very high, single digit, but it is a growth probably somewhere between 3% and 5%, under the circumstances that the market has decreased. Also, we have had a good evolution on the market in Hungary in the first nine months, where we already have about 160,000 customers", he added.
The company entered the market in Hungary in the autumn of 2010, inaugurating the ASTRA BIZTOSITO branch in Budapest, where it is now underwriting on the MTPL, property and Motor Hull segments.
At market level, the leader ASTRA Asigurari expects for the first nine months to confirm the beginning of the year, namely a decrease of the market somewhere between 5% and 10%, the largest depreciation being expected on the motor market.
"Probably we will be able to recover some of this decline on the property class, where ASTRA Asigurari will at least have a significant increase, second and third quarters being very good for this line of business. In our company, household insurance evolved on an accelerated trend and we have registered a very high increase, both in terms of premiums, as well as in terms of number of clients", continued Radu MUSTATEA.
"I wish, by the end of the year, to recover from the declines in the first six months, but if we can not do anything on the motor market, especially on the MTPL, it will be very difficult", according to company's President.
ASTRA Asigurari, leader of the profile market in Romania, has registered, in the first six months of 2011, an underwritings volume of RON 559 million, of which RON 551 million represents underwritings in general insurance, down by 4% compared to the first half of the previous year.
On the MTPL segment, the company's underwritings fell by 14%, to RON 278 million, while on Motor Hull, business fell by 28%, to RON 84 million.
Nevertheless, the company reported a 57% increase in gross written premiums on the property segment, compared to the same period in 2010.
