November Reinsurance Business Meetings have taken place for the seventh time on November 27-28.
570 participants and guests from 22 countries attended the Event at
Moscow's prestigious President Hotel to conduct negotiations and to
present new reinsurance products and programs. The event was organized
by All-Russian Insurance Association, in partnership with BUSSINES
Character Group. PRIMM Insurance &Pensions Magazine was traditionally
a Media Sponsor of the conference.
The event gathered representatives of 147 companies 75 were from Moscow,
17 - from Russian regions and 55 - from foreign countries.
The situation on the global and Russian reinsurance market has been
reviewed by the head of the inward treaty reinsurance department of
INGOSSTRAKH Igor ALEXEEV. Philippe TRAINAR, vice-president of SCOR,
presented a detailed analysis of the situation prevailing on the global
financial markets. The chief underwriter of the EASTERN Reinsurance
Company Nurlan NADYRBAEV outlined prospects of the development of some
classes of insurance under the present conditions.
Reinsurance programs of particular companies were presented by representatives
of UNITY Re, PROFILE Re, KAPITAL Reinsurance, and ASIATRANS Re. Bruce
Selby BENNETT, Head of BENFIELD CEE and CIS division informed about
the merger of AON and BENFIELD that has been completed recently.
Within the framework of November meetings impact of the global financial
crises on Russia and Russian insurance industry prospects against this
background were discussed during the Roundtable with major speakers.
On November 28 during the press conference for journalists Denis KESSLER,
the General Director of SCOR group announced the forthcoming opening
of SCOR's Russian subsidiary that would apply for a reinsurance license
soon. Mr. KESSLER also shared his vision of the global reinsurance
market developments and made some short term forecasts.
