Over 70% of Romanians that currently have a Motor Hull policy had bought it on their own initiative
This is one of the conclusions of the ASIBUS 2009 study, conducted by MEDNET Marketing Research Center in collaboration with Media XPRIMM. The study is based on computer-assisted telephone interviews (CATI) conducted between 2-14 April 2009 among adults (22 - 65 years old inclusive) in Bucharest and other cities with more than 100,000 inhabitants.
According to ASIBUS 2009, 73.9% of the Motor Hull insured in Bucharest have bought this policy voluntarily, and 26.1% of them because of the leasing contract or of the car loan. In the province, the percentages corresponding to those categories are 72.3% ( "I wanted to buy a Motor Hull insurance"), and respectively 27.7% ("It was necessary because of the leasing contract/ car loan").
According to the latest data published in the Specialty Review INSURANCE Profile, the total volume of gross written premiums of motor insurance, in H1/2009, was EUR 676.4 million, out of which EUR 400.6 million were related to Motor Hull policies.
ASIBUS - Barometer of Private Insurance is a quantitative sociological research conducted at national level (urban, large cities) and it aims the exploration of private insurance market. For over a year, Media XPRIMM and MEDNET Marketing Research Center put at the disposal of insurance, brokerage and management of private pensions funds companies, and of the press, market studies that illustrate the trends in these areas.
