I have personally noticed that in territory, people with experience and work relations in the insurance field, professionals, are „ready to die” in duty for the insurance company they work for.
Have you ever wondered what might attract the young people from territory, who are studying in important academic centers, to go and work in their native town, like Deva, Resita, Severin or Tulcea (towns presented in this number of magazine)?
If you have found a correct answer (or if you find one), I assure you that you are one of the leaders of the Romanian profile market (or you will be in a few years).
If not…
Why? Analyzing a top of the insurance development in Romania, you can rapidly observe that the first counties in top, except Bucharest and Ilfov, which represent 50% of the market, are those with traditional academic centers.
We can estimate that in the following 5-10 years, after the withdrawn of the present leaders generation of the branches, there will be an important gap, but also an important opportunity.
Concluding, I don’t believe the foreign insurers which notify their intention of selling insurance policies in Romania to the Insurance Supervisory Commission represent the main threat for the domestic insurance market. They will only affect a part of the corporate clients’ zone.
The real solution for the development of the insurance market is the retail, and the real threat but also opportunity for development and future of the Romanian insurances is the lack of specialized people at the territory level.
P.S. I wrote the above lines as a consequence of the most interesting experiences that I have had in the last 5 years, and I refer to the visits paid together with Media XPRIMM teams to insurers from Hunedoara , Caras-Severin, Mehedinti and Tulcea, within the National Programme “Where Do I Get My Insurance From?”
They aren’t rich counties so I can say that as everywhere “the man sanctifies the place”.
