PZU aims MTPL market in Romania
PZU, the biggest insurer in Poland and one of the most important Central
and Eastern European groups intends to enter the Romanian MTPL insurance
market.
"The company has already contacted BAAR - The Romanian Motor
Insurers' Bureau
in order to obtain the Bureau member status", Mariana GARBAN, General
Secretary of BAAR declared for XPRIMM Newsletters.
According to the current legislation, any insurer who wants to sell MTPL
policies for vehicles registered in Romania has to become a member of BAAR
and to contribute to the Green Card Common Fund after advising the Insurance
Supervisory Commission.
In 2007, Polish insurance group PZU posted gross written premiums of EUR
4.47 billion, very close to the 2006 figures.
