Romania has two companies in TOP 50 life insurance in CEE
BCR Asigurari de Viata and ING Asigurari de Viata are the two companies from Romania that were situated, in 2009, at the level of the Central and Eastern European Region, among the Top 50 profile companies. Thus, with an underwritings volume of around EUR 60.2 million, BCR Asigurari de Viata was ranked 49th, while ING Asigurari de Viata ranked 28th. In the first six months of 2009, ING Asigurari de Viata ranked 27th, while BCR Asigurari de Viata was ranked 57th.
Leaders in the Region of Central and Eastern Europe are the Polish from PZU ZYCIE, that have registered in 2009 underwritings of EUR 2.48 billion, practically with around EUR 370 million more than the entire insurance market from Romania. Moreover, Polish companies have "monopolized" the regional rankings, in top 10 being placed 9 companies from Poland and one from the Czech Republic: CESKA Pojistovna (5th place).
Other insurers from Romania who were ranked among the Top 100 life insurance companies in CEE were ALICO (ranked 52nd), Aviva (87th place), ASIROM (90th), ALLIANZ-TIRIAC (95th), GENERALI (97th) and GROUPAMA (100th).
