Romania, one of the last countries in the CEE on the damages to property segment
Romanian insurers registered, on the damages to property insurance class, underwritings of around EUR 40 million (less than 2% of the total insurance market). In a top of the countries in Central and Eastern Europe on this insurance class, Romania ranks only 7th, out of a total of 14 countries, as it is shown in the Special Report "CEE, RUSSIA & CIS INSURANCE MARKETS 2009".
Ahead of Romania there are Poland (underwritings of EUR 376 million), Czech Republic (EUR 299 million), Hungary (EUR 211 million), Croatia (EUR 140 million), Slovenia (EUR 106 million) and Serbia (EUR 78 million). Behind Romania there are ranked countries like Bulgaria (EUR 32 million), Estonia (EUR 21 million) and Latvia (EUR 12 million).
A comprehensive analysis of the evolution of insurance markets of CEE, Russia & CIS countries can be read only in the most recent special issue of PRIMM Insurance & Pensions Magazine, which contains updated data for 2009, with information related to markets in the region and, also, a regional assessment of the particular way in which the financial crisis has exerted an influence on the economies and insurance markets in the area. The release date of the next special report, with data for the first half of this year, is October 24, 2010, during the annual meeting of insurers and reinsurers at Baden-Baden, with the occasion of the event organised there by Media XPRIMM, Baden-Baden XPRIMM Symposium.
