Russia's President signed a new amendment to the MTPL insurance law
Russia's President Dmitry MEDVEDEV signed a federal law "On amending article 27 of the federal law" on MTPL insurance, adopted by the State Duma and approved by the Federation Council on December 25.
According to this amendment, companies that are practicing MTPL insurance will constitute two reserves to ensure financial compensation - guarantee reserve and the reserve of current compensation. Given the economic situation in the insurance market, federal law stipulates certain rules that allow in case of insufficient funds in one of the reserves to use the second one for fulfillment of obligations.
However, taking into consideration the principle task of forming the above provisions, the application of the proposed rule is limited to 31 December 2011, accordint to Itar-TASS.
