The Slovenian KD Life, a core unit of KD Group, has been considering opportunities of acquiring a stake in Ukrainian insurers, both life and non-life, reported Interfax-Ukraine agency with reference to Matjaz GANTAR, CEO of KD Group and KD Holding.
KD Group already owns KD Zhittya, Ukraine-based life insurer, which launched its business in May 2008.
KD Zhittya plans to write about USD 5 million in premiums by year-end, GANTAR said. KD Life is headquartered in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The 2007 total premium of the insurer amounted to EUR 57.10 million, according to the Slovenian Insurance Association. As a result, the company ranked fourth in the Slovenian life market, as its market share came to 9.4%.
The insurer works as well in Romania, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, and Croatia. KD Life is a member of KD Group, an international group, headquartered in Slovenia and operating mainly in Central and South-Eastern Europe. KD Group deals with insurance, asset management and investment funds.
