Stagnation for the Slovenian insurance market in 2009
Slovenian insurance companies have reached, in the previous year, a volume of gross written premiums worth EUR 2 billion, up 2% compared to 2008. These results were predictable in the current economic context, but the growth dynamics was even lower than the results of 2002, when a 6% evolution had been registered.
Of the total volume of underwritings, general insurance owns the most important share, EUR 1.45 billion, up 5%, while life insurance fell by 0.2%.
Zavrovalnica TRIGLAV still holds the most important market share, though declining (35.8%). It is followed by TRIGLAV Zdrastvena, which registered a 13.5% growth of underwritings, to EUR 67.3 million, and by GENERALI, with gross written premiums of over EUR 70 million.
