The most significant grow for VIG is in Romania
VIENNA Insurance Group registered an 89.1% grow in the first semester of this
year, which was the most significant increase in the group's revenues from
gross written premiums. Romania was followed by Bulgaria, Serbia, and Poland
with rises of 77%, 50% and 43.3%, according to ERSTE's report on Central
and Eastern Europe.
The acquisition of ASIROM and taking over ERSTE's insurance operations took
VIG's market share to 30.01%. The Austrian group is also a market leader in
Slovenia, with 30.4%, in the Czech Republic, with 29%, and in Austria with
almost 25%.
VIENNA Insurance Group has subscribed over the first three months of 2008 premiums
topping EUR 200 million, 89.1% more than the first semester of 2007. This rise
can be explained by the fact that the results of VIG include those of ASIROM,
a company they acquired in the second half of 2007.
The non life insurance segment also added to the final results, bringing the
company EUR 189.45 million, 84.8% more than 2007. At the same time, total life
premiums equaled EUR 11.41 million, which meant a growth by 206.1%. The gross
profit of VIG Romania in the first semester of 2008 reached EUR 2.7million,
an increase of 102.9%.
