Travel insurance reached the level of 2006
The amount of gross written premiums in the first half of the year for travel insurance was EUR 4.04 million, being practically at the same level as the one in the first half of 2006, a nominal decrease in European currency of more than 17% compared to the results in the first half of 2008.
About 65% of this value was made by the top five companies, while the business of the top ten players accounted for more than 91% of the total market.
Also, travel insurance represented, in the analyzed period, 0.37% of the underwritings on the market.
R.A.I. Asigurari leads the market on this class (ranking made according to the volume of gross written premiums), with a market share of over 28%. At the same time, travel insurance accounted for 87% of all businesses of the company.
At long distance from R.A.I., there is a platoon of three insurers - ASTRA Asigurari, CARPATICA Asig. and OMNIASIG -, while the fifth position is occupied by CITY Insurance, travel insurance bringing about 9.37% of all business for this company.
