UNIQA Asigurari goes back in the black in 2009, after a loss of RON 143 million in the previous year
Less than a year after its takeover by UNIQA Group, UNIQA Asigurari has managed to recover from losses and turn in the black, as it obtained in 2009 a RON 2.47 million profit, after the previous year when the company had registered a RON 143 million loss.
"2009 represented for UNIQA Asigurari the year of the company's change of direction, starting the change of ownership and of company name, to medium and long term change of company's strategy, according to the business vision of UNIQA Group", said company representatives.
UNIQA Asigurari ended 2009 with underwritings of RON 496.7 million, slightly declining by 2.16% compared to 2008, when the company reported RON 507 million from direct sales.
Motor Hull insurance ranked first in the UNIQA Asigurari portfolio as gross written premiums on this line of business amounted to RON 271.11 million, representing a share of about 55% of the total portfolio of the company.
However, the company recorded a 1.5% growth in written premiums for MTPL insurance, compared to 2008, up to RON 168 million, and for general liability insurance, a 11.5% growth, with a premiums volume of RON 4.36 million. Paid claims correspondent to the year 2009 amounted to RON 413 million, registering an increase of 5.7% compared to 2008.
The profit posted by the company from Romania of UNIQA Group was achieved following the implementation of integration projects, workflow and organizational structure optimization and efficient use of company resources, in conjunction with a customer-oriented sales approach, according to insurers' representatives.
"In 2010 we decided to give the same special attention to claims settlement activity, as well as to other projects started in the past year, the satisfaction of UNIQA Asigurari customers being essential for our development", the company announced.
