VIENNA Insurance Group registered a total of written premiums of EUR 6.11 billion in the first three quarters of 2009, a 1.5% increase compared to the same period of the previous year. At the same time, net incomes of the group decreased by 14% in the first 9 months of 2009.
On a local currency basis, the VIG's written premiums showed a plus of 6.6%. The combined ratio of the group after reinsurance remained on a stable level of 96.2%.
In the property/casualty segment, VIG reported written premiums of a total of EUR 3.34 billion (minus 1.1 percent). In the CEE markets, VIG posted written premiums of EUR 1.99 billion, in decrease by 2.4%. On the other side, based on local currencies, VIG reported a growth of written premiums of 8.6 percent.
In the life insurance segment, the volume of written premiums totaled EUR 2.52 billion, representing a plus of 5.0 percent. In the CEE region, the growth rate in this segment climbed to 12.9% - with written premiums of EUR 953.57 million.
